Hildy Bernstein is a visual artist and long time practitioner of ceremonial tea. She was introduced to the practice of tea during her years of intensive study of Daoism in the 90’s. Her combined years of Daoist studies, along with the education she received in the 70’s at Naropa Institute, with teacher Chogyum Trungpa Rinpoche, laid the foundation for her experience of tea as a life practice. Since 2001, Hildy has been studying Japanese Tea Ceremony (Urasenke) with Sensei Jennifer Anderson.  Her numerous trips to Kyoto continue to enrich her experience of tea and art.

Cain Carroll has been a student of Asian wisdom traditions since his 13th year and has received guidance from master teachers in India, China, Thailand, Tibet and Nepal regarding Yoga, Qigong, Buddhism, Daoism and classical Chinese medicine. His three books and 3 DVDs reflect his urge to share this rich background of practice. He gives group trainings and retreats and coaches privately. See his offerings at caincarroll.com

After doing alternative service in Germany and Austria, Gerow Reece, as a grantee of the East West Center in Hawaii in the mid-sixties,  practiced Zen at some Kyoto temples, including (the old) Antaiji while also studying calligraphy with Morita Shiryu. He taught ESL for many years in Los Angeles and studied ceremonial tea with Matsumoto Sensei there. He first visited Jikoji in 2000 and has since resided here for three different periods of time focussed largely on the gardens.
